Book of Mormon Art Introduction to Ancient Tales
Book of Mormon Art – The oil painting ‘Ancient Tales’ beautifully captures a moment of wonderment and curiosity. This 18″ x 24″ masterpiece on stretched canvas draws viewers into a scene where children, first, were captivated by an ethereal voice.
This voice was not harsh, neither was it a loud voice; nevertheless, and notwithstanding it being a small voice it did pierce them that did hear to the center.
Subsequently, they make their way towards the voice. Then when in range they see it. A figure gradually descending from Heaven. At this point they pick up their pace and start running. Which is what is captured in this artwork.
Get a Better Look
The composition of ‘Ancient Tales’ is meticulously crafted, showcasing the children’s natural inclination to seek and explore. The painting depicts a figure descending from the sky, prompting the children to run and get a better look, with anticipation and joy.
Like the feeling of Christmas morning, a surprise beyond measure. Thus, the motivation to quickly get closer for good “seats”.
Book of Mormon Art Context of This Event
Just before this event a great multitude were gathered around this temple. They were marveling and wondering one with another showing each other the great changes which had just taken place.
As they were doing so a voice was heard high in the sky. They didn’t know what it said. Then again it happened but still was not understood. The third time they did hear and this is what it said: “Behold my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, in whom I have glorified my name—hear ye him”.
And as they understood they cast their eyes up again towards heaven. Then they saw a Man descending out of heaven; and he was clothed in a white robe. The people thought it was an angel. These little ones didn’t pause they started to run towards it.
Little Amos
Meanwhile, who are these kids? Perhaps Amos and his sister? Who is Amos? They will be part of a society of great happiness. I can only feel happy for these children. They will enjoy a life of peace and prosperity. A time of no envyings, nor strifes, nor tumults, nor whoredoms, nor lyings, nor murders, nor any manner of lasciviousness. As the record states “…and surely there could not be a happier people among all the people who had been created by the hand of God.”
